A football that looks like the leather ball used in the 1937 Hungary-England friendship match, offers space for the choral soloists on several levels, and is dressed up and played with in a wide variety of ways.In the center of the stage is the soccer ball, a hemispherical construction with a diameter of approx. 6.5m. This had to be slightly flattened because of the grid situation and collision with other decorative parts, so that the sphere has an elliptical cross-section. Inside, there is space for 45 choristers on multiple levels, turning with the turntable.Likewise, the soccer ball should be able to remain stationary while the turntable rotates beneath it, allowing performers to move around the stationary soccer ball. This not only requires a complex bracing of the car in the building, it also does not allow the football to be fixed to the turntable, so that dealing with stability became a serious issue. The possibility of getting into the football from behind through the "leather cover" also required an opening which, for optical reasons, should not be a cutout in the cover. Instead, a complete "leather patch" was performed to open.Due to the transport dimensions, the basic wagon had a small footprint, which was very demanding for the center of gravity when turning the disc, taking into account the 5% fall on the stage. The total weight, which also had to take into account the 45 people who were supposed to spin the disc in the soccer ball, also required a filigree steel construction. The steel construction was outsourced. The football skin, which was made at the same time in stage service in frame construction and classic theatrical plastic execution, had to fit precisely.A manually operated hydraulic lifting system was installed in the base wagon for transport. Since no flow divider was used, the building initially tilted when it was lifted, until it was then lifted into the end position on all four cylinders. The tilting turtles, which had already been tried and tested in Bayreuth, were used here and were able to prove their usefulness here in a completely new way.
